Chaos Aternus, book ten of my award-winning Aternien Wars series, is finished and off to the editor! Huzzah!

Writing endings is always a bittersweet moment, especially after ten books and over nine hundred thousand words, but I’m delighted with how Chaos Aternus wraps up. I usually know vaguely what happens at the end of my series from the moment I begin writing, but this book took me in an unexpected direction. I love it, and I’m sure you will too.

You’ll have to wait until 20th October to read Chaos Aternus, but that’s plenty of time to catch up with the rest of the series! Books one to six are out now.

What should I write next?

I have an idea for another adventure in the Aternien Wars universe, but before I delve into that, I plan to write something in the high-fantasy genre. As such, I’d love for you to complete this simple poll!

I’ve been a massive fan of fantasy and sword and sorcery for as long as I’ve loved sci-fi. Arguably, even longer! From The 7th Voyage of Sinbad to Legend, Willow, The Neverending Story, Clash of the Titans, LOTR, and especially Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja fantasy stories have captured my imagination since I was a kid. As you can see from this list, movies are a huge inspiration for me, but I read fantasy too, including Feist and, more recently, the likes of Robin Hobb and John Gwynne.

I’d love to know if you’d be interested in reading a high-fantasy story written by me. I already have a couple of trilogy ideas involving reluctant heroes, fantastical creatures, epic quests, tons of action, and even some romance. My favorite fantasy is magic-lite, so more along the lines of Games of Thrones and Lord of the Rings than Wheel of Time, for example.
